Be careful with xenia. It can and will spread like crazy. Best bet is to give it it's own island that you can trim it back if needed.

Those are awesome pictures - Is the reason the Xenia spread so far/wide in those tanks because their was nothing to keep it in check (i.e. neighboring coral)? I dont think Xenia is that aggressive to other corals - maybe im wrong.

I have a Kenya tree the Kenya tree self propagates and I can tell you that with both Kenya tree and yellow colonial polyps that they will still takeover and try to choke out other corals. the issue is that you have to keep pruning them back this really hurts the stability of the ecosystem and I find its best to have a controlled environment without having to reach your hand into the tank is better than having to battle a coral to have a controlled environment.. if you love xenia corals go for it just be warned it may turn into a battle.

Im going to wait a bit before I start to worry about over populating, if it becomes a problem I’ll make an island just for Xenia, and try to trim it, I don’t think it will for a while though.

my friend has 75 gl Kenya tree forest.
love to see the 75 gal. my brother thinks my small forest is awesome. I got one huge Kenya tree. the water column is too short for the full length soo it looks like a bonsai weeping willow tree pretty cool stuff. just wish it didn't take up so much of the reef. he says keep the forest and I say remove the smaller ones and add mushrooms, zoas and blastos.

Great Idea, the mushrooms and zoas would probably grow out nicely in that tank.
