I have several fish tanks and understand the general rules for stocking. However, I am starting to set up a 55-gallon tall hexagon tank, should i get less fish for this type of tank? I do not know how to calculate how many fish to get, and I do not want to overstock it.

I thought about this tank size for seahorses, reasoning is that there is more vertical space which is what Seahorses need. This leads me to your question, which is asked a lot for all different tank sizes fresh or salt. I like to look at it this way, how much usable space will you have for the fish to swim and live and also at what area of the tank would this animal live... is it a ground/substrate fish, top swimming fish, middle of the tank, how active is this fish. All of those things add up to what you would stock. So it might be a better question to do some research and come up with a list of what you want and post that, then you can get some feedback.
