Not sure. It has an internal overflow and I didn't plan to run any pumps on the back wall of the tank.Do you plan on getting behind it once running?
That would be information I should have provided. It depends. What does your plumbing look like? Depending on your overflow and pipes, you'll want to be able to reach back there to do periodic maintenance and such.
Maybe 3 or 4 inches then? If you have no immediate need to get back behind it, then I'd leave it up to aesthetics, really. Just take into consideration the unknown unknowns and maybe leave a little bit of room, just in case. That would be information I should have provided.
Internal overflow with all plumbing up through the bottom of the tank. Flow pumps on the sides.
How big is the tank? What is the recommended distance to set the tank away from the wall it is up against?
When a fish jumps back there...Not sure. It has an internal overflow and I didn't plan to run any pumps on the back wall of the tank.
What other reasons would I need to get back there?
72x30x25 225gHow big is the tank?
What flooring will it be placed on?
Is your stand set up so you could conceivably reach through it to get behind the tank? (Thinking dropped items here...)
House is on a concrete slab so no basement and no floor joists to worry about. It depends on your house. the structure.
I agree with others that 6" (give or take) is advisable. If you don't want the gap visible from the side, you can always put something there to hide it like a piece of wood the same color as your stand...72x30x25 225g
LVP over concrete
Yes. Stand is open in the back.

@Zero_Cool @CoastalTownLayabout ks exactly right! I placed mine “close” to the wall because I didn’t think I’d ever need to get back there. Three years later I’m glad that I luckily had enough room back there for my arm. Never know when you need to deal with wires, add a Powerhead, etc.The bare minimum should be enough to get your arm behind.
Acres electrical and cord management. Not sure. It has an internal overflow and I didn't plan to run any pumps on the back wall of the tank.

Or a life size suit of armor...Or a potted plant.
