How far can/should I run 1/4" for auto water changes?

Will be using a DOS to run my daily water changes. Will I encounter difficulties if my drain and saltwater supply are 60' away? Do I need to run to a more local reservoir and pump the distance with bigger pumps, or will the tiny flowrate of the DOS make it a moot point?

I run 50’ with no issues. It might take a lil longer fir auto shut off to kick in but that’s it

From a RODI system? 40ft. if you have a boost pump you can go farther. reservoir? it only matter on the pump that you use.

Not from RODI, from the Neptune DOD pumps to do a daily water change. Likely closer to 40', in all truth.

So DOS pump would have to drag fresh saltwater 40' and discharge sump water 40'...

Found the discharge pressure and tubing size on Neptune's page. Turns out they run 3.33mm tubing. SMALL stuff. The DOS pump only develops 20ft of head. The pipeline loss calculator shows a loss of 14.1 ft at a flow rate of 0.1gpm over 50' of tube, not leaving a whole lot of margin. At least it's a relative positive displacement pump, so discharge pressure shouldn't impact flow rate... Let's hope their specs are accurate...

If it’s 40’ upwards probably a problem. If it’s 40’ horizontal, could probably go twice that
