How far to travel for fish and corals?

I'm wondering how far some of you travel to get livestock for your tanks? I've traveled up to around 3 hours personally because there just aren't any local shops, and it's nice to see things in person. How far are you willing to travel and when is it worth it to purchase online?

If its +/- 1.5 hours ill drive. Its always worth it to find some place that has what you need and you can put eyes on it before you buy.

I'm fortunate within 15 minutes there are 3 LFS's I can deal with. My usual importer and lfs I deal with is within a 1/2 hour.

I've driven about 4 hours to see my folks and visit LFS's along the way or in the area. My better LFS is 1.5 hours away on winding mountain roads and he may not be open when I get there.

I just put an order in to Cultivated Reef, 3 LPS corals and zoas cost me $150 shipped overnight. So under $40 a piece which is what I would pay at a brick and mortar store. Their pieces are usually decent cuts and have good luck with them in my tank. I haven't bought corals in a couple years.

I was actually pricing another well known regional vendor I've been willing to try, shipping was more, but they have wysiswyg stuff, but most everything was out of stock that I was looking for.

I've located a regional home based store which is about two hours away with lots of decent looking stock. I may check them out if I'm wishing for a road trip.

My LFS is a 3 hour one way drive.

I do have 2 other stores closer, but they are not MY LFS. I honestly wouldn't buy anything from either of the 2 closer places.

I would drive 1 hour to petco before I bought from them.

i travelled 1.5hrs to RAPNY last year and this year. a have some options for LFA around me.. but for the most part i order online from reputable sources. have also travelled about 1.5hrs to pick up frags from other reefers here.

I used to drive up to 4 hours each way. Now I get most things online.
