It is more likely that you are not getting freshly mixed water from the LFS, but the old water from their system.

Any new water they mix goes back into their system.

Better to buy your own salt and buy water distilled water from the grocery store. That way you control the water quality yourself.

No, that makes zero sense in a variety of different ways.

Most obviously a problem with the idea is where would the trace elements go? They go into solution, which is where you want them.

To reply to this conversation. I personally use the API kit as well and do not trust the Magnesium results. Every time it is off anywhere between 120-200ppm. Use a better test kit before dosing. Also, with teh Quantum Products and your size tank I would not recommend dosing more than 30ml in a day.
