I have a 20g QT/Frag tank with a Kessil A80, Tidal 55 w/ flow rate of 250 GPH, Koralia nano 240. I have some frags that have been in QT for well over 76 days, but decided to wait to move to my DT until I could borrow my local club’s PAR meter (Apogee MQ-210). These are my first corals, so my primary goal is to keep them healthy/alive until I can move to DT. I adjusted lighting by the knobs on top of the Kessil primaryily by look attempting to not err on too high and then just left it alone because most everything seemed to be doing ok. Only question mark has been an alveopora and half of a zoa. At one point, my two gonipora were always retracted until I put them in a slot further away from the light and then they started extending. I’ve also been getting some coraline algae growth, so wasn’t expecting what came next. I took my first measurements and the highest reading where my Euphyllia are was 17 PAR and the lowest near the gonipora was 4. So I turned the knob to get me to 50 at the high as was planning to continue to increase each day. I am not sure how fast I can increase since I’ve had everything so low. Planning to move up to @125 PAR. Or maybe it’s so low it’s ok to jump faster? Corals include torches, hammers, zoas, acans, bowerbanki, gonipora, alveopora, favites, Ricordea and forgot I also have a Jedi mind trick Montipora. Moving to 50 yesterday, everything looks good today. Took a pic yesterday and today (iPhone 11 w/ ice cap 15,000k lens to help with the blue for a better picture, which I’m not great at taking). I do see the alveopora is starting to peak out again. One reason I was concerned my light was too high before the meter is that my gonipora never extended until I moved them to the lower light area. Originally had them under the light and then after 4 or 5 days started moving them back. Got a little extension, moved them back after a few more days until they are where they are. Sorry, long background on why I made the mistake, but appreciate any feedback on how fast I can ramp the light or if there’s other suggestions on PAR target. Thanks!
