I think I just had my first loss in my Nuvo 20. I introduced a Yellow watchman and candycane pistol shrimp a week ago. They never really paired till this morning I saw the watchman half out of the pistols cave. I was excited but when I got home from work hes no where to be found. Being a small tank with minimal rock I started looking and no trace. Tank has a screen too so I doubt he jumped. Only cuc are 2 small hermits, a couple astreas and cerith snails. Could they have completely cleaned up a 1-1/2 watchman in 10 hours?

Keep on looking or maybe it is just burrowed away somewhere especially if its fairly new.

I wouldn't worry, plus you might do more harm then good moving the rocks (hurting the pistol or watchman). When I first introduced my pistol/goby pair, I didn't see either for almost a week. Some days I still don't see the watchman for over a day or two. They're just busy building burrows most of the time.

I probably shouldn't of been I moved the rocks to look as theres only a couple. Maybe he will turn up
Yeah. More harm thangood. Leave them be. Moving stuff, never know if you're gonna squish something underneath

I've had my Gobys vanish for days at a time. I will tell you that my CUC devoured all but the bones on a wrasse of mine in less than 24 hours...

I once had a yellow watchman in a 220. Didn't seem him for about 2 years until I had to tear down the tank due to moving!

Shouldnt think Id lose a fish in such a small tank lol

Depending on the set up of your tank and the size of the goby you can check the sump and overflow I had a mandarin go into the overflow and an eel go all the way down and now lives in my sump. Look for small piles of sand as an indicator where he might be.

honestly youd be surprised I was at Petco the other day and saw a yellow watchman goby, but he was small and when I asked about him she tried to find him because she was putting a pistol shrimp with him but he was also literally under a rock in the sand so even if you tried you could not find him, you would have to lift all the rock etc to be able to see him. Just be patient I am sure he will turn up.
