HOW HIGH DO YOU HANG YOUR LIGHT?

Now that i have your attention... How high should I put my 8 bulb ATI over my 50 gallon tank? I am not sure if I have it too low, and the corals are getting too much light. My new clam is gaping and I don't know if it is caused by the light or high mag...

Parameters:
Alk- 8.3 (stable on doser)
Ca- 420
Mag-1500 (high from trying to get it back up)
Phosphate- .05
Nitrate- 5 ppm

You have led strips on there too at the same time?
What brand?

The hight looks right. 12 in or so?
It's about 175 par is per tube at 12in.

It's a lot lotta light but i don't think that's the issue worth the clam. They don't have a photoinhibition point like corals do as far as I've ever read.

It prob not the mag.

Yes, it's a reef brite xho. That is on in the morning and night, solo. I am stumped with the clam...?

I don't know much about gaping clams, only gaping anemones, and that's not a good thing...

The clam is new, but from an established tank. The light isn't new.

I've been interested in finding a lift for my light. I am wondering how others have dealt with this. Such a pain to try and work on the tank with the fixture in the way.

I'm jealous of You Guys who live in San Diego ! I lived there for about 3 years back when I was 19/21 years old. best time in my life ! I have and ati 6 bulb over my 75. My fixture is 16 inches above the tank. I had to set the lights at 75% due to too much light . So KE is there any way You can get your hands on a par meter or such?

We just bought two of these to raise/lower the hanging canopy on our new 48"x36"x20" tank.
