I have a 75g tank with one 165w blackbox led I’ve been keeping it at 21” above water line for he higher I go the better it looks the question is how hight is to high.
tank has Kenya trees bubble tip nems
Mushrooms toadstool etc.

What do you mean the better it looks? The tank looks better without a black box next too it? Or the lighting looks better? What lenses do you have on the light?

The water looks more clearer and I’m not sure is the Phlizon

Typical is 12-18" but even 20" would be sufficient. Do keep in mind that coral utilize the lighting and the UV to produce itys food source Zooxanthelle which promotes health-color-growth.

So past 20” is to much

Anyone else

Tons of PAR pushed by those CBB, the square ones with 55 individual lenses.
I seen them up to 24”, actually, they blend better with height.
I doubt 4” either way is any issue, if you like them higher, do it.
What I would add is once set, resist moving them unless you have a real solid reason for doing so.

So you think at 24” it will still pull enough par for bubble tips nems

I have a 75g with 3 of 165W viparspectras for SPS, but I would go with at least two to get enough coverage for other corals. Mine are mounted 12” above my tank. I have all kinds of corals that are doing well.

When I move mine down to 12” it’s to bright do u keep blues at 100

You can always turn it down, but since I have SPS, mine is at 95% blues and 10% whites. I’m getting around 600 par at water surface and 250-300 par on sandbed

I’m 100% blue and 1% white.
This nem is 24” from the light.
Your nem will move if he’s unhappy.

Ok so I moved my light down to 12” today and my Kenya trees and few other corals closed up is this normal

Is this just adjustment will they adjust to me moving from 20” to 12”
