So I finally got my hair algae under control and my params are pretty much perfect. The only thing Im not sure of is how hight to run my LEDs. I have never been sure exactly how much light they put out but I (and most others) seem convoked it is on the too much side as opposed to to little side. Anyhow I have 30 (15 White and 15 Blue) Cree XR-Es in my biocube hood with no optics.

Does anyone know if 100% intensity is too much?

i have 24 on my 29 biocube and it seems to be fine. i had a oregon tort in there for awhile and it did fine. thats only my experience though

20 royal blues, 12 cool white, 5 UV, 80 and 70 degree optics, all run at 700 mA. OT, PM and other SPS with no problems here over a Solana.

That sounds like a lot of LEDs for a biocube. What amperage would 100% be? Also, I don't think that anyone could give you a good answer from what you've said. You really should borrow/buy a PAR meter to know for certain.

I'm just trying to give you everything I can. I am trying to find a par meter I can borrow locally but am so far unsuccessful. I will have to look up the amperage for you but I do know that I am using an ALC for an RKE which I want to say goes from 0-10 amps?

Is this a DIY fixture? If so, what is the driver?

It's a DIY from nano tuners but they built and installed it for me. I would have to open the driver box to see the drivers. Luckily however I finally found a PAR meter and a very knowledgeable LED guru to help me out and he is local! I can post my findings here if anyone wants.

If it was from Nano Tuners it could be a TR Driver which is like the Inventronics. They are set to 700mA for the 40 watt version.

Your lighting is on the high end depending on which XR-Es you have...Some can bu up to 20% dimmer.

Either way you have enough light and will want to acclimate slowly to full power.

what are you findings

I know for a fact they are mean well drivers.

What type of Mean Well?

The more common one they offered was the ELN60-48D which as a max forward voltage of 48vdc which means it can only drive up to 13 Cree XR-E LEDs.

i have mine about a 5 inches above water line and 9v. Theres 48 LED half and half 18 in deep tank no issues. i kinda want to push them at 100%.

I have not gotten the par meter yet. I will have to look up what drivers. I have two drives one for blue one for white and 15 of each. So I guess they could be something else but I was pretty sure they are mean wells.
