I'm having a rimless tank built and drilled for a XAquaINOUT overflow/return. Anyone have experience with it? I'm wondering how far from the top edge I should have the holes drilled. I've only seen a couple of pictures and videos online for it.

I had mine on a 93 cube 3" below the top

Have you already bought it?
Yeah it's being shipped to the aquarium builder for them to install. You've had one? I just don't want the waterline to be down too low since it's a shallow peninsula build (48" x 18" x 14" (L x W x H))

My waterline is 1 1/2" below the rim.

They are better for larger tanks not nano's like mine.

You have to be careful to not get to close to the edge, but I will measure for you.

2" from the rim to the middle of the hole. Be careful the template is photo'd copied so it is off. Some people experienced problem with it so I am not sure if it is widespread.

Yeah I've read that. You'd think they would have fixed it by now but I let the guys building the tank know about the issue with it.

The template is more of an issue if you are going to keep the two pieces together, you could put the drain in the middle and the return on one end and another return on the other side, it would look a little weird they should sell the option of two returns.
