So for a while now I was getting bad reading from my ph and sg probe. When I pulled them out them out of the holder they were completely caked with calcium deposits. So I decided I was going to clean them or replace them. So by using a 5 to 1 ratio of muriatic acid I dipped them in a glass cup for 2 mins used a soft tooth brush and they were spotless. Fearing I screwed them up I washed them in a bottle of water twice and placed them back in the tank. With in a minute my probes were back on track. I then used a calibration pack to check if the read correctly. My ph probe was dead on at 10 and sg was .1 off I can work with that. Try at your own risk.
