It won’t be great for Acropora and other SPS long term however IME, fish and easier corals are rarely affected by it.
I would still try and keep your salinity between 1.025 and 1.028 if you plan for SPS and Clams.

If your salinity slowly rose to 1.030 due to evaporation, they would be stressed but likely fine if you (slowly) lower it again. But if you're moving livestock from normal salinity right into a tank with 1.030, then you have to worry about osmotic shock, and this could definitely harm them.

I’m not sure about 1.030 probably matters MOR so how quickly the salinity changes, but yes higher salinity may produce the symptoms in question.

If I recall the Red Sea has a specific gravity of 1.028. Most fish and corals can adapt to that, but I don’t know if 1.030 crosses any sort of innate limit, and then, it probably varies by species.

Just at recent MACNA, this question was brought up to one of the speakers and was noted that it can be harmful to fish as the fish need to drink seawater to stay hydrated and when it gets too salty, they need to expel the excess salt through their kidneys and the cells in their gills forcing them to regulate how much water they take in. This is the reason we go by ocean standards for best health.
