Should I wait to test my water?

So I tested my water for nitrates (my biggest enemy lately) and well nyos testing said 0.

I don’t believe it. I wasn’t going for 0.

But maybe my fuge is doing it’s job along with my reef glass skimmer. Maybe I won’t need to do a WC water change now? Maybe bi-weekly?

My new at home salt water has done it’s job raising dkh ( maybe too well) and I got my salinity back up to 1.026.

Agree if nitrates ~0 then I would dial back the WC and save some $$$

That said, I would look at the turnover rate of your return pump and wait for it to have turned over your total system volume a few times (5-10?) before testing.

My return pump is a Sicce Syncra 1.0 Aquarium Pump, 251gph. My tank volume is probably 14 gallons (16gal biocube) plus a 2gallon fuge(2.5g CPR fuge 2) So I would say total water volume maybe 16.

So roughly ever hour it turns the water over 15times.

How often are you changing your water?

Then you should probably feel good about testing 30m to an hour after your WC

Just think, less maintenance!!
