2 months ago i transferred my smaller tank rock and media bags into the sump of my new tank, the display of the new tank has 75lbs of marco rock (new) and 40lbs live caribsea sand.

The chamber in my sump i want to use for a refugium or algae reactor so im wondering how long i need to leave the old rock in the sump until the rock in the display tank has caught up.

Livestock has increased from 6 fish in the old tank to 8 in the new so not a massive bioload increase

Thanks

For nutrient processing, I'd say yes, the rock in the tank is sufficiently "live" after 2 months in a fish-in system.
