I have some smaller rock that I picked up from the lfs. It is live rock but I am planning on using muriatic acid to kill off anything that may be in it so I don't introduce anything bad into my dt. After the acid soak, how long before I can use it in my display? My dt is 3 yrs old with plenty of live rock already.

Muriatic acid is just HCl also called hydrochloric acid. It is highly soluble. As said above just rinse the rock in RODI and allow to dry thoroughly. Any traces of acid on the rock will neutralize themselves by attacking the calcium carbonate. Calcium carbonate plus HCl produces CaCl and CO2.
