I have a over night shipment of corals that spent the day at the dreaded Memphis TN FedEx terminal, was due before noon today left Memphis at 3:30 this afternoon , 1300 miles away. Current status is delivery before noon tomorrow. My question is what should I expect , will the corals still be viable, and is this something I can do be sides the regular recommended acclimatization

the only thing I've had live through my worst delay which was a day and ahalf late was mushrooms and zoas lost all my euphillia and sps

I’ve heard of soft corals surviving up to ten days in shipping. It really depends on how they were packed and the weather. All you can do is wait and see. I wouldn’t even float them or dip them, I’d put them straight into the tank. You can dip them if they look sketchy, but I would try to avoid any extra stress and get them into flowing water ASAP.

Like MaxTremors stated it really depends on packaging.

Longest I have had a living SPS was 4 days.

If USPS is handling it about 30 minutes after they receive it...

This happened to me .I packed up some corals to ship out one time. Packed them in a Styrofoam box (1.5" thick walls. Each in specimen cups that were secured to the lids to prevent getting knocked around. Bubble wrapped the cooler box and put that in a triple ply cardboard box. Dropped it off at USPS to be shipped and about 30 minutes later they called to let me know they accidentally dropped something large on it by accident and crushed it and were concerned when they saw water leaking out...

$350.00 worth of LPS corals were literally smashed.
Had to refund the buyer the same day and took the USPS almost 5 months to get my money back via shipping insurance.

In the package is Montipora Chritmas Tree worm rock Palythoas , Ricordea Mushroom, Cyphastrea and a Pom Pom Pulsing Xenia colony, very sad right now ,

They should be fine..I have had many shipments delayed a day..Corals do better in cold weather than hot. I just received 4 favias,2 days late all were fine. I think there are more losses in hot weather

thankfully only a brisk 55 most of today in memphis so even in warehouses all day they wont melt!
ive ground ship zoas to myself and they lived, in summer, and 8 days or so? One in my club had bounces, a scoly, a holy grail torch and some other euphy that got stuck in the flooding last year, 4 days and bounces and scoly were gone but the euly lived long enought to get into tank for recoverym, though did take a while heal if i remember right

I checked the weather, before ordering have had harder stuff be delayed in Memphis, before. ,

Had a 2 day delay by Fedex in anchorage AK at 25 degrees. Still the acros and inverts all made it alive. Depending on how the shipping company handles them.

You should be alright :)

FedEx here is massively understaffed here, even with how much they pay, and on top bribing employees with double overtime to come in on off days. Amazon opened other side of town and employees keep bouncing back and forth. In current employment climate its unlikely to change as gig jobs is big competitor for many industries here, as no drug testing, no set hours, and memphis has this really big fetish with "hustles".

either way if its just tomorrow it should be all good
