I am moveing in a few weeks. And have some GSP on on my back glass. Was wondering how long it can be out water? Trying not to pull it off if I don't have to

Just a guess, but probably 3-4 hours. While, not the same, I fragged some Pink Diamonds off of a frag disc a few weeks back and forgot about the frag disc for about 8 hours - everything was OK a day later.

Maybe lay the tank down on it's back and put a wet towel over them?

Free bump in case somebody has actually done this.

Not sure but I'd grab a couple emergency frags in the event that it doesn't do well.

That's good idea I'll probably go with the towel idea. Thanks

When I moved houses I had GSP on the overflow that I didn’t much care for. It took well over 18 hours to get water back in the tank after it was drained. GSP came back just fine.

I would just scrape it off and reglue it to the glass when you are back. I wouldn't be leaning my tank on its side and put the extra stress on a partially supported side just to save some GSP.

My 2 cents...

I like IDA's guess 3 hours someone test with a small expendable portion

With a wet paper towel on top I would guess at least 24hrs maybe more. Occasionally I bring corals as carry on when traveling. Canada has no liquid restrictions so I just dump the water and wrap the corals in paper towels and haven't had issues for many hours. You can't do this for every single coral but I would suspect gsp would be one of the longest lasting out of water.

Borders dont bother you with the live animals (corals) ?

Not so sure about transporting a tank laying on it's side. Depends on the size of the tank. I probably wouldn't do that with anything heavier than a 40 breeder.

Wait wait wait.
You can actually kill GSP?
Has anyone ever killed GSP?
That’s a weed!
I do wish my back wall was covered in it!
Weed yes but can be nice if used in the right application

As long as it doesnt dry out I think youd be fine. I cut a bunch off of mine and someone rang the doorbell. I left it inside my hood on the frag plus when I glued them and forgot to put them back.in the water when I answered the door. About 4 hours later I remembered them. They were dry but not completely dried out. And they were under the lights so I assumed they were goners. For giggles (since I always say this stuff will survive a nuclear disaster) and after 2 days they started to open up again. All of them.

I not going to lay my tank on its back I can't do to pluming. I was just going to lay a moist towel over the top. That's the GSP is the least my worries was just wondering.

That’s the same attitude suppressing various human groups on this planet. As if some belong more than others…. It’s time to evolve thinking patterns and stop giving into the mainstream thinking points. They are toxic to all living organisms on this planet.

So because you’re new, I’m going to consider you as a troll.
Your one and only message was an attack on a joke message.

Before you start comparing people, you need to rethink your logic. I’m very big in the saltwater community and I pick up plastic every time I go to the ocean, or in general.

Please don’t ever post a comment like you just did. You seriously ticked me off. Never compare people to other people if you don’t know them.

Others got my humor, sounds like you didn’t.
Stop trolling people too.
