The reason I ask is my the tang is temporarily being kept in a 12 gallon quarantine holding area. He’s a decent sized hippo

I had an outbreak of ich in my system and I’d like to keep it fallow for two months. So the tang
will be in the quarantine tank for two months.

here’s my quarantine tank setup:

thanks for any input!

Other than the space for swimming issue, I'd be very concerned about the small size of the tank and it's ability to keep water quality top notch with a fish that big that will test the tank's ability to process waste.

+1 on getting a larger tank.
I know it sucks, it's an extra cost, but two months is a long time for an active fish that size stuck in 12 gallons of water, lots can go wrong very quickly in small volumes.

At the very least grab a big ol' Rubbermaid and improvise a holding tank. It's ugly, but it's cheap, and works. Will give your hippo the best chance at staying healthy I think.

*I'm currently QTing a 2" Hippo in a 20 high. Not as good as a long, but it works.
