So my yellow tang finally started eating seaweed and i have it on a clip now and he does not go to the clip often but he goes here n there. I wanted to know how long do you guys suggest i leave thr seaweed in the tank for before i remove it? It doesn't break apart everywhere n she is the only one tht goes to it.

I leave mine in till it is gone. After the lights shut of the night time crew eats it as well. Some fish take time to get used to the clip and fully start eating from it.

Whats funny is i only left half of it in the tank and forgot about it... Came back n its all gone :). I'll prob. Do tht everyday now n just leave a little piece. Do you usually leave the entire piece?

I leave it all. I found over time more of my fish learned to eat it. With that being said if you find it is not being fully eaten within a day or so with a lot left over I would take it out so it doesn't break down and add nutrients to the tank. Then also add a little less.

Thanks... And you are right lol today I added another piece in and my niger and tomato clown are eating it as well :). Do you feed your tank nori everyday?

I feed my tank nori everyday. All my fish (except the cardinal) eat it now, even the wrasse. :) it will break down quickly so you dont want it in there rotting away. Just give them a small piece at first and slowly increase it until you figure out how much they are able to eat in a day.

I find it takes about 2-3 days for nori to break down to the point it comes apart and floats off in the water column. Our yellow tang eats it constantly, though.

I buy the dried sheets of nori which are about a square foot each, but then I cut them into strips about 4"x1", which are about the right size for 24 hours of consumption. I fold those sheets up and put them in a veggie clip, which tends to maximize being in the tank for about a day if actively eaten and most of it gets to the fish without much going to waste. I would figure out how much your tank eats in a day and cut your nori down to that size.

all fish are different. My purple tang enjoys ripping pieces off the clip and letting it all float around the tank. I'm sure he eats quite a bit of it but it still makes a huge mess.
2-3 days seems like a really long time for nori to break down. IME its quicker than that and best to not leave nori in the tank longer than 24 hours.
