What is going to happen when the lights go back on? The temp will probably rise again. If you are concerned about keeping the temp down, I would look to finding more permanent cooling options such as adding a fan or even a chiller.
Get rid of the lid.
PUt a fan in the back blowing across the water surface. If its a cube, you'd have to cut a hole in the back to mount the fan.
Stupid question but do you have a heater running? What type of lights are on it?
Ok, drill some holes in the lid so that heat may escape. Get a fan into the back side of the unit for air circulation. That's where my lights are though!
