We ran a recent poll to find out how automated peoples tanks were for them when leaving it alone away from home. Squishie89 made a comment in that thread that lead us to another idea...

How long can you go without touching your tank while at home.

There are many of us out there within the hobby, along with many diff reefer types. Some of us must touch the tank on a daily basis and just cant seem to get away from it while at home. Others really take the enjoyment from viewing rather than hands on, and go months without messing around in the tank.

So who are you -?- and how long can you go. This should be an interesting and funny area of convo.

Tell us about your addiction and how you get the most enjoyment from the system - hands on or sitting back and just enjoying...or other.lol

I am deff a daily myself. Can't look at the tank without finding something to do in there.lol
My amount of time spent has changed tho. I used to be in there for hours and hours at a time all day but now just get in there here and there all day long rather than simply "all day long"lol the wife is much happier now a days. ROFL :)

I try to keep my hands out of the tank as much as possible but sometimes I just can't help myself...lol. I always see something that needs to be tweak. I have been much better about it with my new tank than I was with the old one. Trying to show some restraint.

I'm probably not daily but sometimes it may be daily then probably go a few days without doing anything except feeding.

I'm almost a daily but has been getting good less and less as the tank getting settled and all good. Only been up and running for a month or so so still have little issues here and there. But today only thing I have done is the normal coral feeding.

Definitely not a daily toucher here more of a once a week only. But I'm sure that'll be likely to change once the upgrade happens this week or next.

We're usually in there almost every day. With it still being newer we keep moving things, saving things, cleaning things, etc.

Daily, something always gets knocked down or something. At least one pain in the butt fish in there...)

Enjoy feed through the week. Don't touch anything. Saturday mornings clean skimmer cup, dump skimmer cups pull for the week from 1gal jug scrape glass and scrape ats. Occasionally add frags on Friday nights once or twice a month. Water change every once in a while on Saturday along with regular routine. I am confident I could go two weeks if I had an auto feeder.

New frags getting knocked over is why I bought an endless supply of super glue "gel kind". No more frags upside down in the sand. [emoji106] [emoji225] [emoji12]

Well the same as the other thread, maximum I can go is 24 hours. Not every day do I need to do stuff in the tank other than feed (and at least 2 of my fish need to be spot fed so I always have to be there to feed) but there is always something that needs doing; clean crap off the powerheads, switch out the filter sock, flip over a snail, etc. But I am very hands on and semi-okay with this arrangement XD

I could go an average of 10-12 days before I need to empty my skimmer and refill my ATO container, the Apex and autofeeder take care of the rest... but in reality, I'm messing with it everyday.

I used to always have my hand in the tank every day .
I have learned to restrain myself a bit more now a days .
I only really put my hand in to clean the glass and to add new frags .

I slack off due to dirty construction worker hands

With an auto feeder I could go 2 weeks without touching any part of my tank without any impact.

I run a Genesis auto WC system and my mix tank lasts 12 days. My skimmer collection jug needs to be emptied about that same time and with the neck cleaner I don't ever need to adjust the skimmer.

The reality is touch my tank daily though. Always something to fiddle with. :)
