How long do Royal Grammas live for you?

For those of you who’ve kept and / or are currently keeping Royal Grammas, how long have they lived / did they live for you? Are there any special care requirements needed for these fish? Would you put one into a tank early on?

Had them live over a decade. They are a great fish. Tend to like meaty chunks as opposed to small plankton for food. Good early fish too

That’s pretty awesome. Here in Asia I have to look a bit harder to find them, they’re not super rare but since I’m on the other side of the world non-Indo Pacific species are a bit harder to come by. I love them though. Are they particularly susceptible to any diseases?

3 tears, 2 months and 4 days .......lol
With jokes to the side, most every fish will have a lifespan based on tank conditions, diet and overall health.
Nothing different than us humans

They succumb to disease like the rest but are hardy. They also tolerate infrequent feedings better than most.

Mine is actually the 3rd longest living fish in my tank 3 years old

One of the easiest fish to keep.
It can be aggressive from time to time with other timid fish like Firefish and also can be aggressive to other basslets. Most of the time they are model citizens.

I have 3 in one tank and they hang out together. It is funny watching them jostling to be top dog or fighting over a certain hole sometimes. They do no harm to each other and hang out together all the time. I would not recommend someone new trying to keep multiple though especially a pair unless they were a bonded pair. Aggression needs to be spread out with multiple no less than 3 and the more the better. If two pair it can become a issue also to the others.

They eat anything really and are hunters.. I have seen them eat bristle worms and have bristles hanging out the side of their mouth.. Pods like amphipods in the tank are a good idea they will spend most of the day hunting them.

I’ve had one for about 15 years. #1 cause of death is jumping out! So keep a lid on it!

Last one I had was over 7 years old. I sold and/or gave away all my fish and corals to friends and LFS when I moved from Vancouver to South Florida in 2019. Recently restarted my tank and will be getting one soon as I can't imagine having a reef tank without one.

Still alive today? I guess so haha. How big was yours when you got it? And did it get sick at all? Any difficulties in feeding it?

BTW I guess I can consider myself a former Vancouverite. Lived for 10 years on and off in Richmond.

he was between 2-3 inches when I gave him away. I hope he's still alive. He was never sick and he ate what the other fish ate, mysis cubes, clam, shrimp,

I have one he is 7 years old, been wondering how long will he be around. Well I dont know how old he was when I got him but I have had him for 7 years.
