I am sure there is are a bunch of threads out there about this. But my head hurts lokking for them.

So, how long do you run your lights? I am sure I run them WAY too long. I have the blues coming on at 6:30am and going off at 10:00pm. And my regular lights come on at 7:00 am and go out at 8:00pm. And am sure this is leading to an algae issue.

I run mine 7 hours a day zoa and lps dominated Ai vegas 1 1/2 hour ramp up and 1 1/2 ramp down

LEDs, 8 hours, no ramp up or down. Moon LEDs for 4 hours on either side of normal lights.

Hmmm, apparently I am not running mine near long enough! Isn't algae a issue with lights running that long? Or is it combated through good husbandry?

Blues 12hrs and whites 4hrs. I have some film algae but my snail and hermits takes care of it. Algae is also dependent on other factors such as amount fed, bulb age, etc.

Well I took a chance and changed. Being today is Saturday I could turn my lights on longer then normal. So far I have noticed everything opening up more, and my carpet is bigger then ever before. So maybe it is worth it to run lights longer then I thought. Ma just need a better/bigger cuc to help combat any nuisance algae.

9 hours. VHO's a half hour, then blues come on for half an hour, then whites on 7 hours, whites off, after a half hour blues off, another half hour and VHO's off.

8 hours 4 bulb 39W T5HO'S
may extend the blues a few more hours since it seems some have success with it
