Hi im new here so a thought a would say hi first
i recently added A zoa frag to my take first bit of coral my tanks been running well over a year also water is parameters are good they have been in the tank about 6 hours will it take longer for them to open up
many thanks

Really depends on your parameters and what the zoa was accustomed to previously. Most of my additions open within an hour now, but I drip acclimate my corals as well as fish and inverts.

I think it all depends. My first zoa opened within 5 mins. I bought another the other day and it was adding when lights were dimming so they opened to see their lashes but then close till morning.

With correct acclimation, lighting and flow, with 12-24 hours

Cool thank you i was doing some research and it said 8 hours a day so i got a timer that i can change on my phone

Update it has been 24 hours and one has opened up so i think it must be taken time for theme to settle in

Their is a picture

Hmmm. Zoanthids have always opened within a couple hours for me.
That piece looks a little rough. Have you checked chem, SG included?

Welcome to R2R. :)

Do you roughly know the level of flow they require at the moment they are far from the power head put their is still a gently flow in that area

That SG value is fine.

Mine do well under indirect moderate flow mid way in the tank.

What about your lighting?
Did you dip the piece?

I have a blue T8 light which works out to be 1 and half watts per gallon
And I have done no special dips I just did a drip for an hour

Light is on for 8 hours in the day the. It’s programmed 30 minutes at night for feeding

is their a better place where i could place the powerhead the black circle is the zoa frag and the red circle is where the powerhead is now
thanks

I keep the bulk of mine mid/low in the tanks with enough flow to keep their skirts ruffled - but not blow them around crazy. Seems like they're pretty far away but I clearly don't know how powerful your flow is from just this.

It's not too late to pull and dip as a precaution.
