How long does Chaeto take to reduce nutrients?

On average how long does a small ball of cheating take to reduce nitrates I’ve used it in the past but never payed much attention but I’ve had my Chaeto in one weak with no nutrient reduction

It matters how high your nutrients are and how much algae you have. There is no formula. Good luck.

It's going to depend on a bunch of variables. Light intensity, light spectrum, photoperiod, flow through the sump, how much algae is in the display ect... generally speaking, most reefers are able to harvest chaeto weekly to bi-weekly. As far as how much nitrate and phosphate drops, it's hard to say. Without knowing what's being put in. If you're adding food and its increasing nitrate by 2ppm a day and your chaeto is able to remove 2.5 to 3ppm per day it's going to take a while to notice a difference.
