How long does live rock need to sit before it's considered "dead"?

I have had some live rock sitting for four months now and I was wondering if that is enough time to kill any pests or hitchhikers on it. In my old setup I battled Aiptasia, Hydriods, and Vermetide snails. The pests I mentioned where not hard to keep under control with regular maintenance but it would be nice to know weather or not after all this time if they could still be there on the dry rock.

Sitting out of water? It's dead.

I would probably cure it for at least two months before using it again.

+1 with Potatohead. It is dead. It wouldn't hurt to powerwash or take the hose and scrub all the dried gunk off it before curing.

I live in Phoenix and I put it outside for the summer months in extreme heat. I thought that would be as good as bleaching it I definitely plan on curing the rock before reusing it I just wanted to make sure everything was dead. Thanks for the helpful insights!

I normally cure my rock at 80 degrees with light flow. Any input on the best curing methods?

I ask because this time around in my 200 hundred gallon I have a lot of rock so I was thinking about curing it in the tank.
