How long for a display tank to be ich-less when fish-less?

When a display tank is empty of fish because it had Ich... how long should it remain empty?

~76 days is the consensus fallow period. Ensure good flow and no anoxic areas.

I would like to add 76 days was a lab handled test with optimal conditions for ich life and it was a particular strain. I'm doing 6 weeks with mine which from talking with a few folks seems like it has a 99.9 % success rate. I'm going into week 6 now! I'll let you know how it goes. Not arguing with anybody about the 76 days but I do believe that was a rare and extreme case

You can make your tank clear in 76 days however re introducing livestock from god knows where can ruin that in a second.

The law is 76 days but I follow the six week rule also. Nothing is absolute so 99.9% is close enough for me! Just make sure you qt. It only takes one misstep to cost weeks of pain.

Yes.. please let me know.. I'm only on my 4th week and im wondering about the success of anything shorter or if anyone has had success short of the 76 day mark

Ick lives on fish part of the cycle and freefloat in others. At the first sign of ick take the fish and put in a clean bucket. Change water every three days and you should be throwing out them as they leave the fish. 4 or five water changes at the three day mark should ride them completely. Don't forget a Maidstone in the bucket and small heater.
