How long for tang to get sick if present?

Hello, I recently have began tossing around the idea of adding other sorts of livestock to my reef tank. Previously I only had a pair of clownfish in the tank which have always been healthy. I recently added a yellow tang after QT and was wonder that if there is a disease or illness present in my tank, how long would it take the tang to show it? For instance, my clowns may never get ich, but maybe it’s in my aquarium water? So how long until my tang gets it? How long until I know I’m in the clear if I don’t add anything else? Can I get my water tested for disease/parasites/bad bacteria?

I’ve read that symptoms (visible ones) show up within 8 days. I think someone who know what to look for can see some of the behavioral symptoms sooner.
