How long have you been reefing?

First reef tank in about 1987/8 ..... freshwater for about 15 years before that. I went at my equipment closet about a decade ago and got rid of most of my older kit. Probably the oldest thing I had was a Dupla float switch that I bought around 1985 and retired soon after because it was passing full mains power (versus low voltage). Now the only thing left in an advanced state of decomposition is me.

I still have a Red Sea Berlin skimmer. I found an old sea swirl a few weeks ago I forgot about.

First fish tank in the mid 1960s, a metal framed slate bottom 29 high. but my first reef was in 1989. An O’Dell with a Skilter filter which I upgraded to a Seaclone...LOL and an underground filter. Still have the tank holding water...all tempered. Paul has been my inspiration I have an old diatom too from the ’70s

Reefing since Jan 1, 2020. I call my tank the Bad Omen.

First salt tank was around '80, 2.5g with undergravel filter and no heater. The incandescent light kept the temp up...generally. Had a clown, a damsel, an urchin and a couple snails. My parents thought I was crazy, but it worked.

1973-
That’s my O’Dell (Bernie Marcus was CEO, I believe) 55 gal saltwater tank. With a Supreme AquaMaster hang on power filter with filter floss & GAC, Sanders protein skimmer, Ebo Jager heater and undergravel filter. Both Sanders & Ebo Jager (now Eheim) were German companies, as the Germans dominated both the hobby & technology at the time.

I spent most of my time & an exhorbitant amount of my part time pay on it. Some things never change ;)
