How long have you kept a star fish alive

I have one that was good size when I got it and I've had it for about 7 or 8 yeras now.

BTW, most people don't call them starfish anymore because they aren't fish, they are more properly called sea stars now.

My sand sifting sea star is somewhere around 8-9 years by now. I had a fromia star for about 4 months before (I am pretty sure) he took a trip through an MP40.

My LFS has a giant serpent star in the 300G reef tank. You can see arms in the front and rear of the tank.

I am on 2 months with my orange sea star. Unfortunately a few weeks after getting it, one of it's legs went into the intake of my gyre :( it lost about half inch of it's leg. It healed up nicely within 3-4 days. I installed some gyre quards since then. It cruises around my tank all day long, mainly in the glass. I let film algea build a bit more now for it.

I have a Serpent Star going on about 13 years now. I see the arms everyday at feeding time and he is seen occasionally running over the rocks.
