Got a Royal Gramma that I released into a 500g DT about a month ago. He then promptly got the crap beaten out of him. I suspect this was courtesy of my Purple Tang as he feels it’s his appointed duty to ‘welcome’ most new fish in this manner. Anyway, by the time I scooped out the Gramma and got him back into QT, he was almost dead. Went the trifecta route and after 14 days, I’m happy to say he,s eating well and swimming normally. I figure I’m just going to watch him for another week or two then try him in the DT again but THIS time via acclimation box first. Provided he’s ignored, how long would you keep him there before you let him go? And yes, the tang is still in there.

Two days - three days. Has the tang shown any interest in the gramma since in the box?

Mirror trick may help.

I have an aggressive PBT to all newcomers and I use the mirror trick and it works. After he fights himself for a day he doesn’t care about the new additions anymore
