How long is too long for herbivores?

I know once gha gets long herbivores will not eat it. But what is considered to long? What's the limit for tuxedo urchins, turbos, astreas?

I don't know if there's an actual measurement. If you can grasp it with your fingers and pull it off it's to long. Manual removal is the primary tool followed by the cleaners.
