I have had a set of screen tops on my tank for about 1.5 years. These are the ones from BRS that I made. The other day I was moving one around and my hand went right through it. When I started to mess with it more the screen just crumbled in my hands. The screen is very brittle and breaks up almost like fiberglass. I am guessing this has something to do with my 400w MH I run. Question is... is this normal for the clear screen from BRS to do this? I have some same thickness pond screen that is black and claims to be UV stable. Would this be a better option for me to replace mine with since. Any advise or experience with this is appreciated.

Wish I could help, mine is only a few months old. Have you contacted them about this? It is probably due to your lights imo.

I would say it has to do with your lights as well. I've had mine up for just about 2 yrs under t5. Still feels the same as it did when I first built it. I would see what BRS has to say about it. Also give the black a try if it says uv resistant. I would be curious if it effects the light differently than the clear.

Mine is 3 yo and is under LED's. I'm pretty sure it's the heat from your metal halides that's responsible. Shouldn't take long to take off the old and put in new in the same frame.
