I just made myself a diy chaeto reactor and I am wondering how long I should keep the lights on

Many people have them on a reverse cycle with the main lights to help with pH but to be honest I’ve been using a refugium for about 3 weeks and haven’t noticed any difference

It also depends on what your trying to achieve with nutrient levels.

My light is on from 1opm to around 5pm the next day

I was thinking of doing a reverse cycle from when my lights turn off to when they turn on but that is 10 hours

We had ours on 24/7, didn’t think it was doing much, changed it to reverse cycle and algae has exploded in the display, so it obviously was doing something, have put it back on 24/7 now!

Having it in for 10 hours will be fine then I’ll just have to see how it goes
