How long to blackout?

i have dinos in my tank, I set up a UV sterilizer turned the lights off and blacked out the tank.

My concern is I have an acro coral frag, a birds nest, monte a bunch of SPS, a leather and other softies, as well as a bubbletip anemone.

How long can I safely black out the tank before my coral start to die?

So I just endured my 3 week first bout with dinos about 2 months ago. I didn’t completely blackout my tank. But definitely cut the lighting schedule down. I did lose 2 corals. Both healthy monticaps. Once I saw those corals dying, I bumped up the lights not wanting to lose any more. It was a good move on my part but again that was my first experience with dinos. Good luck.

I just removed the cardboard from the top and side of my tank to see how everything is going.

I have been running the UV sterlizer and have been blacked out for almost 24 hours now. I do not see any visible dino's. my coral look good. The single bubble tip anemone i had yesterday split so i now have two which is kind good.

I have put the cardboard back on the side and right now just running blue and UV on the tank light with my main office lights off, which is where the tank is, so the only light the tank is getting is from the Noopsyche K7 pro III.

I am going to keep running the UV sterlizer and do a "hybrid blackout" for the next 48 hours.

I also turned my skimmer back up but removed the cup and the amount of froth is crazy, similar to when i dosed chemiclean.

Did you ID your dinos with a microscope because unless it's the type that goes into the water column a UV is useless. Some dinos go into the sand overnight not the water column. Blackouts are a useless bandaid temporary fix that does nothing to address the underlying problems resulting in your dinos.

From what i could see under the microscope it looked like Ostreopsis but i am not 100 %.

The dinos's were on the rock up high in the tank, with a lot of mucus and bubbles, the dinos on the glass also in the top 1/3 of the tank had long strands and bubbles, which also seem to line up with Ostreopsis.
