How long to drip acclimate hermit crabs

i’ve been drip acclimating my hermit crabs for about an hour is that enough for them to get used to the salinity?

I don't do that at all. I just put them in the tank, never had issues so I assume an hour is enough.

Yes, an hour is more than enough for hermits. Some say invertabrates need a longer acclimation but this usually isn't the case for me.

I would leave the lights off until the morning. I do that with every organism I add in my tank. It can help with stress and aggression from other animals.

You can turn them on; crabs aren't that sensitive. I've never had an issue anyway.

i’ll leave ‘‘em off for 30 minutes and see how they’re doing afterwards

I’ve never dripped hermits or Astrea snails.

That includes the ones I’ve gotten in the keys after a 7 hour drive, just drop them in the tank.
obviously if one dies in transit he doesn’t go in.

The drip acclimation is really meant for starfish and other super sensitive fish/inverts. You don’t need to do it for hermit crabs and snails. You can float them for like 10 minutes and plop them in the same goes for corals

I temp acclimate and throw them in. Never had a problem with hermits.

when hurricane irene flooded my shop over the top of my sump the only thing that survived were the hermits...thats when i decided to check the salinity and it was like 1.016...lots of rainwater in the coastal flooding...they're pretty tough

per the place I get my cuc they do not advise any acclimation beyond floating for 15 min. I cut each bag, dump the critters into a container (no added water) and then place them directly in tank. I don't turn lights down or off. Just in they go. The reason is the build up of ammonia in the bag once water hits. Go to Reefcleaners.com and read their acclimation directions

I love hermits, what kind did you get, I drip/temp acculmation for about an hour just to ensure survivability but that's just personal choice. Also ensure you buy plenty of varied sized shells as they love swapping out (this also helps aggression towards each other)
