Hey there!!

I have not had the best experience in the past with acros- picked up two small frags from WWC and wanted to get opinions on when to move them to a higher flow/light part of my tank.

My parameters are much more stable atm, so I am excited to see how I do with these frags. Currently they are in a lower flow/ lower light area of the tank on a frag rack as they iust were shipped over night. Polyps are extended on both and they look happy! Running Kessil WE 360s 10” from the water at 50%.

Thanks for any feedback!!

I typically just get a big blob on the bottom and plop it down with the power heads off for a minute.

Also, would you mind listing the tank dimensions? You might be able to better adjust your lights. 10 inches is above the height kessil recommends mounting the lights

Hey! It is an older RedSea 250 MAX 37 inches wide x 17 inches L x 20 inches high. I am actually running the kessils 12" off the water with 18" between both lights. I took the lid off the tank and made my own mesh screen up top. Do you recommend pulling it off the plug or just gluing the plug down after chopping the actually plug piece off with bone cutters?

For Acros, I take the plug off.
Crazy glue gel, dip in water outside the DT for 30 seconds to create a “skin” push into rock, twist say 20% and hold.

Anyone else have a timeline for their acclimation to their lights?

You might want to move the kessils closer to the surface. Check out the guide on their website or the best videos. I'd also imagine you could easily crank up the intensity too.

I remove the frag plug if it's not my own (as they can harbor pests). If you can show the frag plug into a spot, that works. Otherwise I just glue the coral if it's big enough. I've also broke the bottom of a frag plug before and then glued it.

To be honest, I don't light acclimate my coral at all. I also don't run crazy high intensity light so that helps. I find out the PAR from where my coral are coming from and put them in a spot that matches as close to that as I can.
