How long should it take for my aquarium to heat up to temp? I installed an ink bird temp controller on my new build along with a 100 watt BRS titanium heater on Saturday and it still hasn’t gotten to the set temp, it’s been holding fairly steady at 76 but I have it set at 78, and it’s been running constantly as far as I can tell, should I add a second 100 watt or something smaller or leave it the same?

Is the heater constantly running? I bet either the controller or the heater or both.. Are out of calibration.

Total water volume is 50 gallons, BRS titanium heaters don’t have an internal thermostat, I calibrated inkbird to lab grade glass thermometers.
Oh right, yeah with 50 gallons I would get another one. BTW, I would recommend getting heaters that have internal thermostats for further redundancy.

The inkbird is on a NO relay with a resistance temp proble roughly equaled to 84F, if the temp goes above that it stops applying power and the relay opens and kills the inkbird

I work in live sound and broadcast, it kind of tends to ingrain the fact that you need backups on backups all the time and that tends to make me overbuild and safeguard things. In this case it was a super easy backup unit but sometime so over think things.

I would have thought 100 watts would be sufficient for 50 total gallons, though ambient room temperatures would be a factor also. Have you physically checked the heater to see if it is actually warm? That'd be the most obvious first step. Assuming it is working (and it probably is), then a second heater would be called for.
