How long to leave lights on

How long should I leave my lights on for
I have them on a timer for 12 hours
But wasn’t sure if I should shorten the time or make it longer
I’m new to salt water tanks

What lights and do you have corals and if so what are they?

I have always aimed for a 12/12 lighting plan. When it was T12VHO it was easy. A simple lamp timer did it for me. Now that it's 100% LED, I am able to give it a ramp up/down, so that max lighting is on for closer to 10 hours/day.

The reasoning I have always used is that because most of our corals are from near the equator, where the sun is up for ~ 12hrs/day, every day, that will most closely replicate what they are used to in nature.

I do 12 on. I have led t5 combo. My t5s are on for 5 hours(soon to be 6) and an hour ramp up and down for the LEDs.

I really wanna know now because I keep mine on 10 hours but will a 2 hour difference really effect anything?

On for 12 hours
