How long to QT?

How long should i quarantine shrimp? I have a 20 gal QT and am getting shrimp soon. How long should i quarantine ? Id imagine shorter then for fish? Also when i quarantine fish should i treat the water?(i know not to treat copper with any shrimp)

Well with any non fish 76 days would prevent introducing the major players for fish diseases (ich,velvet,flukes,etc.). Long I know but it is comprehensive.

You only need to quarantine a shrimp until it molts. Just make sure you don't transfer any QT water into your DT.

I like to treat my fish in QT with Prazipro and Coppersafe. There are other options.

That is true for most inverts but not necessarily for shrimp.

What we worry about is the ich or velvet Tomant forming a cyst on a hard surface such as a shell. Since the shrimp sheds its hard shell when it molts it will leave any Tomants behind.
