How long to wait before trying a new position for a clam?

Let le clam aclimate to the light and flow first and the star moving the clam slowly to the top it should take you at least 4 weeks to do that. How old is your tank??

Thanks, yeah, with getting harassed every once in a while they've stayed fairly closed. So we'll see how how they do in the next few days. Honestly if they'd be fine down there I'd keep them there, save space up top for the sps!
Sounds like a plan, with that light I'd say they'll receive plenty of light.

The tank is almost 2 years old at this point, so thinking long term growth, I'd have to hack some sps colonies later if the clams are going to get huge. I have some sps frags that were just an inch and now 6+ inches across. So I'm having a lot of success, but clams and lps are the last pieces for this tank. I'm basically out of room at this point. I only have one or two spots for a full grown maxima on the rocks, but of course I could make room if necessary.

The maxima is already 6 inches, and if I can play it by ear and look for signs of not enough light, I'll probably stay in a holding pattern for a bit.

What signs over the next few weeks should I be on the lookout for with it not getting enough light, just expansion of the mantle?

My blennies have never bothered my clams, just goes to show each has a personality. I am very careful with tank mates for clams also. Cannot wait to see those babies grow out. Nice tank!

I just picked up a wild 5 to 6 inch maxima today! Really looking forward to seeing it open fully. Its on the BB of an 8x39W T5 fixture in an EXT 75 IM tank 20" deep but more toward the front of the glass for viewing, not centered under the fixture. Lmk how yours ended up swing with your T5s on the bottom.

This is my first clam in this tank.
