How long to wait to add fish after ick

Agree with all four above! Ich doesn't need substrait or rock or anything but a fish to host on for it to survive. You'll need to treat the water with copper, cp or do TTM to cure them of ich. Display should be left fallow for 76 days to free it of parasites and provide a fresh start for the fish once the tank is ready for them.

Trophont / when attached to the fish / 3 to 7 days attached to the fish
· Protomont / crawls on substrate / 2 to 18 hours
· Tomont / begins to encyst on a hard surface / hardens in 8-12 hours
· Tomites / while a cyst, it splits into daughter parasites / 3 to 72 days inside cyst, however most take 4 to 8 days
· Theronts / new parasites hatched from the cyst / 24 hours to find a fish host or die

Ok so what you guys are saying is the fish will always have ick unless treated? The ick in the DT will die off without fish to host. Is this correct?

My yellow watchmen lasted only about 14 days on copper before I had to pull him out and into his own tank.... 22 days left of Fallow on the DT

I decided to use the tank transfer method instead of copper. It takes a little more time and effort, not to mention having to put 2 QT in my dining room, but I definitely think it's easier on the fish.

You can also do a freshwater dip on your QT fish. Also increase temperature slowly up to 83-86 degrees and lower salinity! all these things will help kill ICH..
