How long you been keeping a saltwater tank?

I set up my first tank on Memorial Day weekend 2009. I had a 14 Cube and had to have something in it. Now I have a 55, 40, two 20 longs, a 20 tall, and Im getting ready to set up a 135 in my shop for my clients to enjoy. My friends are calling me a coral hoarding reef nerd. Ive been called worse. I prefer to look at it as a conservationist. Im saving my own little pocket of the ocean. At the rate they are spilling oil who knows how long our oceans reefs will be able to stay healthy. I cant imagine living without some kind of water feature in my home or workplace.

I have had aquariums since I was a small boy. I moved over to salt water about 16 years ago and never looked back.

I've had aquariums since I was around 6. In '65 I had a discus tank and was visiting a LFS, when I saw a small 20 gal. tank with a Heniochus, a Queen Angel, Percula Clown, and a Coral Shrimp in it. It had silica sand on the bottom and a hang on Dynaflo filter. I WAS HOOKED!

In those days there was virtually nothing about saltwater aquariums. I read and studied everything I could get my hands on and took the plunge. And love it to this very day.

Saltwater swim tanks over 30 years, probably 32 or 33 to be exact.
Reef tanks 24 or 25 years, not sure exactly but my first anemone purchase was Memorial Day 1990 and I still have it.
