Soon, the reef club at my school is going to be filling a 90 gallon tank. Considering anthias. Are they okay to keep in a 90? And how many should go in a 90?

You could easily do a triplet of lyretails. They are not as bad in terms of having a high metabolism as queen anthias but I usually recommend feeding twice a day if you can.

Thank you!

I have two anthias in my Reefer XL 425 (88 gal display tank) and they are fine. I could easily add 2 or 3 more and don't think it would be a problem.

Following . I just added a male lyretail recently in my 80 gallon rimless and curious as well to how many.

Depends on the species. Agree that a trio of lyretails could work in a 90, though they’re certainly not on the less aggressive end of the pseudoanthias spectrum. They’re part of the Franzia subgenus which boasts some of the most pugnacious species. They are, however, generally easy to feed and less exacting in their requirements. They do need frequent feeding otherwise you may well find your trio as just the single dominant fish. My personal favorites are bimacs, but they’re probably too big for a 90 .... plus they get pricey. Dispar/ignatus would be a good choice. They stay smaller, aren’t quite so homicidal, and you could probably keep 5-7 in a 90.

Agreed that the Lyretail would probably be the best all around choice. @ the OP, above all avoid the Bartlett's, they can be downright nasty little buggers.
