How many blue legged hermit crabs

How many blue leg hermits can I put in a biocube 32 with
-30lb of live rock
-1 emerald
- pom pom
- 2 clownfish
- 1 cleaner shrimp
- various cuc snails
I have 4 already

What does the algae on the rockwork look like? Heavy? Medium? Light? Non-existent? What about on the sandbed?

Theres a ton of diatoms

How old is the tank? If it’s relatively new (<1 year), I’d just vacuum the diatoms out, since it’s just a part of the cycle.

If it’s old, then I’d add like 3 more hermit crabs.

If u haven't already purchased the hermits, I'd highly recommend getting the red legged Scarlet Reef hermits. They are more docile and less aggressive than the blue legged hermits and wont go rogue on livestock.

IME, hermits other than scarlet reef hermits end up doing more destruction than they do helping with any perceived problem, so my answer is ZERO

I had a blue leg in a 180 and it had an appetite for anything that it could tackle! Was a cool crab to watch but snails and smaller crabs had to keep an eye over their shoulder..

All my blue hermits destroyed the scarlets. Love the blues though, they are super active and fun to watch them zoom around. YMMV on how many you can fit, I feel that a dozen in a 125 is not a lot but plenty to watch. So if you're not seeing them I'd be tempted to add more.
