How many clown fish can I fit?

I want to do something like if possible.

Those would be juvies from same clutch, notice how they all look the same, same species, this is the only way harems or multiples may work, and even that may come w/ some pecking off.

You would need a bigger tank, one pair in yours is a good choice.

I think a pair with a bunch of bubble tips would look awesome.. ill try that in a few weeks I'll update yall with a pic or two

By correcting water flow, adjusting light, and rock scape for them only on the left side. Hopefully the right side adjust itself to whatever happens on the left

You will have a better chance trying to get them to go to the right....they will then go to the left since they never go where you want them to

Agreed. That's one of several reasons why I won't have one. @ the OP, one of the biggest lies told in the hobby is that Ocellaris variety clownfish are peaceful. They are all semi-aggressive/territorial to some degree once established. Definitely no more than a pair (and that only works if they become mated).

meleev's reef has one in a 60 gallon cube. although it's tied into his giant overall system. but interesting he has 17 clowns in a fairly small footprint

and BRS of course did their clown harem tank in.. either a 120 or 160. their last video calls it a 160, but their first video setting it up calls it a 120. shrug

Keeping X clowns in X size tank is a subjective matter. I have a 28 gal nano with 2 long tentacle anemones which are a home to 4 orange skunk clowns. I also have a snowflake and flurry clown in there. The flurry was a recent addition, but the others have been in there for about 3.5 years. The non-skunks host some anthellia. The skunks defend their home but otherwise everyone gets along. The skunks were all purchased together/put into the tank at the same time with the anemones.

On the flip side, I also have 6 clowns in our 300 gallon. A 'normal' occy and a misbar darwin have paired up and make babies constantly. A pair of domino/midnights went in together. Everyone else (chocolate and frostbite<?>) get along fine. They were not put into their original home at the same time (180 gallon) but were all transferred into the 300 gallon at the same time.

I think if you put them in together they will figure out who is the female and rules the roost/pecking order. But, I would have a backup plan in case someone gets beat up.

I personally have a soft spot for clownfish. If I could have pairs of all the designers, I would!

I have 3 about 2 inches on a jbj 45 ...
2 snowflake for about 1 year ..
I got them small then I introduce a lighting bigger that the snowflake they have they fight some times when I feed them but other wise they are cool with each other ..
I think the key on my tank is that is the only fish I have and the 2 first were little small that the lighting so they couldn't put a fight with him..
But maybe I was lucky..

I tried two pairs in an 8' long 600 gallon and had to remove one pair as they were constantly getting harrassed, so much so that they wouldn't even come out to eat.

I tried to put my anemone in a locations I wanted it, but it never worked. Annie moved all around the tank till she found her happy spot. She was a pain in the butt because I had to make sure she would not thug my coral. Lol. Good luck!
