I am.wondering get if you have ever added too many corals at once and what the negative effects were.

I recently added several new corals to my tank and had a big increase in calcium consumption.

You don't want to add too many at a time. It also depends on the corals your adding, frags, colonies, high Ca or Kh demands, etc. I add 3-4 small frags at a time and then give my system a week or so to balance back out. This way my system doesn't have too much of an adjustment. Kh, Ca, No3 and organics.

How big is the system? How big are the corals? Types? Normally, it doesn't matter. After a frag swap, plenty of people add let's say a dozen frags in a 40 gal system without issue. But yes, it would be wise to check your calcium/alk/mag parameters as you go (just like it should be done as corals grow out).

Lol I like that one haha, i added around 10 sps corals ranging from mini colonies to frags at one time with no problems

I put 27 frags into my tank yesterday. had to empty out some space as I'm getting another batch of frags in on Wednesday. the sad part is that on my tank I can barely tell that ive added anything.

how big the tank is make a difference. I added 30 frags just a few months after putting in 25 frags. I want more but I also want room for growth so it looks more natural.
