Just wondering how many days can corals go without light and if I need to buy a timer.
Thanks

3-4, perhaps 5 days without light should be fine, folks do blackouts for algae for a few days at a time.

Do you need a timer? Not needed, but it sure makes life easier, timers only cost about $10-$15 each, otherwise turn it on and off yourself every day, no big deal.

I think a coral could technically survive for quite some time without light. Perhaps weeks or maybe months depending on type, especially if there was a little ambient natural light but it would take them a much longer time to bounce back.

Yeah after this holiday I’m defending getting a timer

Yeah there’s a window next to the tank I’ll open that while I’m gone so the corals get some light
